The first Harvest Results for the RL winter oat trials are now available. Results are for three treated sites - Kent, Lincolnshire and Fife.

The average yield of control varieties in these trials stands at 8.92 tonnes/hectare, ahead of the five-year average of 8.74t/ha.

So far, the Husked variety RGT Southwark is highest yielding (107%), followed by RGT Lineout (102%), with market leader Mascani on 95%. For the naked varieties, Peloton is the highest yielding on 76%, followed by Fusion 71% and Grafton 70%.

The 2021 results show yields based on one season. The five-year average is a better measure of variety performance over the past five seasons (2017-21), says AHDB.

In the five-year average RGT Southwark is highest yielding (104%), followed by RGT Lineout and Dalguise (both on 100%), with market leader Mascani on 97%. In the naked varieties, Peloton is again the highest yielding (77%), followed by Fusion and Grafton (both on 73%).
