Topping the dairy line-up in what was described as a ‘very close' placing for judge Alan Timbrell, Gloucestershire, was the Jersey champion, Potterswalls Excitation Glamour, a third calver from the Fleming family, Seaforde, Co Down.
The 10 month-calved cow was last out as a heifer in milk in 2019 when it took the inter-breed heifer championship at Antrim show. Classified EX92 and projected to give 9,000kg in its third lactation, it was the height and width of rear udder that was the decider for top honours.
Reserve
In reserve was the Holstein champion, Priestland 5446 Shot J Rose, from the McLean Family, Bushmills. The cow is currently classified EX96 and is believed to be one of the highest scorers in Northern Ireland. It calved in January with its fifth and is due again in December. It was shown giving 52kg at 4.61 per cent butterfat and 3.38 per cent protein.
Taking the Aryshire championship was Denamona Clever Lassie from Alan Irwin, Tyrone. A homebred Sandyford Clever daughter, it was shown giving 50 litres having calved with its second in February.
Shorthorn
The Irwin family also topped the Dairy Shorthorn section with their heifer in milk, Denamona Conrad May. Having calved in July, the Lady Grove Conrad daughter was shown giving 35 litres daily.

The January-2021 gilt resides with Mr Shields 1,000 strong herd which he has been exhibiting at the show for more than 40 years, nine of which were in attendance this year.
The reserve inter-breed ticket went to sixteen-year-old Samara Radcliffe, Co Down, with her traditional breed section champion, the Saddleback gilt Prestcombe Lady 2. A regular exhibitor on her local circuit, this was Ms Radcliffe's first inter-breed win.
