New cookbook showcases farm to fork recipes

Autumn is upon us, and here, Jenny Jefferies, author of For the Love of the Land cookbook, shares some of her favourite recipes.

The nights are drawing in, there is a chill in the air, and it is time to start cooking up some warm and cosy autumn dishes with some of the best seasonal ingredients produced by British farmers.

For the Love of the Land is the latest cookbook from Jenny Jefferies, and is a true celebration of farming, bringing together a collection of recipes from farmers from across the country.

Jenny says: I dont come from a farming background, but when I married my husband, an arable farmer, and saw the first family harvest, I was so overwhelmed at the hard work it takes to get that loaf of bread for the table.

I admit I was shamefully naive. I wanted to showcase the amazing produce we have in our country and bridge the gap from town to country in an informative and entertaining way.

Jenny became a Love British Food hero earlier in the year, and has collated recipes from about 40 British farmers, hoping it will encourage consumers to look at the food supply chain.

We have become disjointed from the story, she says.

Dont take it for granted, and I urge people to buy more sustainably, look at labelling and buy British and try and buy seasonally.
