Sugar beet growers face shortages of some disease control products as a result of availability issues with the fungicides Priori Gold and Angle, both containing the actives azoxystrobin and difenoconazole and used to treat cercospora.
A spokesperson for British Sugar said: “Cercospora can cause significant yield losses so it is essential growers have access to the appropriate tools to protect their crops.
“The sugar beet industry is working together with the Health & Safety Executive to find a workable solution so that growers have a range of options to protect their crops. In the meantime, the British Beet Research Organisation is monitoring the situation within the fields so that growers can make informed treatment decisions.â€
