We have an exciting opportunity for a Chilled Warehouse Manager to join our Chilled Warehouse Team based in our Tewkesbury Depot. This specialist role is hands-on and predominately shop floor based, so the successful candidate will be heavily involved in the daily management and operations of the Department, its processes and employees. The role of our Chilled Warehouse Manager:

The Chilled Warehouse Manager will be responsible for driving KPIs, improving efficiencies, meeting quality standards and ensuring stock levels are correct, taking into consideration seasonal demands and ensuring damaged / wasted stock is kept to a minimum.

The Hours: Full Time, Permanent working an average of 45 hours per week, 5 days over 7 days on a rota basis.

The main responsibilities and functions of this role include:

- Ensure appropriate staffing levels to achieve department demands with a continued focus on lean management.

- Actively encourage continuous improvement activities, delivery of excellence to achieve performance targets and objectives in line with budgets.

- Ensure best practice is maintained particularly with regard to HACCP, BRC and health and safety standards.

- Ensure the highest level of service, accuracy and quality are maintained for all outbound goods.

- Provide advice and instruction to staff with regard to hygiene and health and safety.

- Co-operate with internal departments for reporting and rectifying issues arising.

- Work in a flexible way to ensure cover during holidays and sickness.

- Plan, organise and utilise resources effectively, ensuring the employee rota is issued weekly and holiday and sickness is covered.

- Liaise with the HR Department and taking people management responsibility.

- Set and communicate through the PDR system and other channels, ambitious goals and targets to key personnel.

- Recruitment of departmental personnel.

- Proactive in identifying self-development opportunities and striving for excellence.

- Motivate, mentor and develop the team in an efficient manner to meet Company operational requirements.

- Implement process improvements to meet the departments KPIs.

- Maintain all health & safety standards within the department promoting a positive health & safety culture on site.

- Manage daily orders, safe vehicle loading, schedules and departmental communication.

- Utilisation of stock, returned packaging and damage minimisation within the yard operation.

Skills and attributes we are looking for in our Chilled Warehouse Manager:

Essential

- A strong communicator able to foster and maintain excellent working relationships.

- Positive attitude possessing high levels of commitment and motivation.

- Have an eye for detail to ensure accuracy and precision.

- Ability to work flexibly to cover shifts and work to tight deadlines.

- Knowledge of Health and Safety and safe working practices.

- Line management experience, with excellent communication skills.

- History of managing & developing warehouse systems to meet quality and service objectives.

- Previous food safety knowledge within a warehouse environment.

- Proven health & safety knowledge and culture engagement.

- Good level of PC literate skills and ability to create and present reports to senior management.

Desirable

- An understanding of lean techniques.

- Knowledge of food production and associated procedures.

- Forklift truck licence.
