
Blackface females were in demand at the breed's ÍæÅ¼½ã½ã-supported show and sale of in-lamb ewes and gimmers at Lanark.
Making the top price of 10,000gns, was a one-crop ewe from John Harkin, Loughash, Northern Ireland. By £20,000 Auldhouseburn, out of a ewe by £5,500 Dalwyne, it is due with a single, to a £26,000 Elmscleugh.
The buyers were Veronica and Patrick Fullerton, Draperstown.
Next, at 7,500gns, was a gimmer from Hugh and Alan Blackwood, Auldhouseburn. This daughter of £75,000 Dalchirla, out of a ewe by £25,000 Auldhouseburn, sold carrying a single to £160,000 Elmscleugh to Vic Bull, Isle of Skye.
Eoin Blackwood's Dalblair ewes, from Muirkirk, sold at 5,200gns and 3,200gns. Both daughters of £52,000 Crossflatt, the dearer of the two sold carrying a single to the home-bred Bodyguard, to J. Brannigan, Dungannon.
The other sold due with twins to the Bodyguard, to D. Harrison, Annalong, Northern Ireland.
Selling at 4,500gns was a three-crop ewe from the MacArthurs' Nunnerie consignment, Elvanfoot. By £20,000 Auldhouseburn, it stood champion at Muirkirk Show in 2018. Carrying a single to £18,000 Auldhouseburn, it sold to David Morrison, Barr.
At the same money, John Murray, Crossflatt, sold a gimmer by Tornado due with twins to £150,000 Auldhouseburn, to the Jacksons, Pole and Donald McVicar, Lephinchapel, both Argyll.
Paul Coulson, Langley, made 4,200gns with a two-crop ewe by £50,000 Crossflatt, In-lamb with twins to the £150,000 Auldhouseburn, it sold to R. Flett, Inverness.
David Baillie, Calla, received 4,000gns, for a two-crop ewe which was reserve female champion at last year's National Show. It sold carrying a single to the 5,500gns Conway, to Conway Bros, Northern Ireland.
Best for the Midlock consignment, from the Wight family, Biggar, was 3,800gns for their first prize ewe, a four-crop by £25,000 Crossflatt. It sold carrying triplets to £24,000 Connachan, to Hazel Brown, Coulter.
The champion came from Midlock's Glespin pen, a gimmer by £24,000 Connachan due with twins, to a home-bred son of Stag, an £8,000 Dyke. Final bidder at 3,000gns, was Eoin McKenna, Maghera.
