Royal Three Counties beef supreme goes to Charolais heifer

Claiming the overall beef inter-breed and continental titles was the Charolais champion, Teme Stardust, a home-bred two-year-old heifer from Vince Corbett, Knighton, shown by Grace Corbett.

The daughter of Barnsford Ferny out of Teme Magnolia, which was breed champion at the Royal Welsh Show in 2018, is in-calf to Lochend Shell and was breed champion and reserve inter-breed champion at Shropshire County Show earlier in the year.

Standing reserve was the native and Aberdeen-Angus champion, Rodmead

Prague W014, a home-bred bull by Skaill Eric S498 out of Brynawelon Prim J530. Bred and exhibited by Angus Neish, Warminster, and shown by Johnny Ward, it had also been breed champion at Bath and West Show.

The judge, Bryan Jones, Powys, said his champion and reserve were both outstanding but the heifer had great presence and style, being one of the best of the breed he had seen and would have a tremendous future.

Reserve continental was the Limousin champion, Dinmore Perfection, a 2019-born Wilodge Vantastic daughter from Paul Dawes, Hereford.

The any other breed champion, Aur du Bombay Sapphire, a two-year-old Welsh Black heifer from Lloyd and Burnett, Leominster, which had been any other breed champion and reserve native at Shropshire County Show, took the reserve native title.

In the dairy rings for the second year running the supreme award went to the any other breed champion, the Guernsey 2018-born Glanmor Levi Okapi, a third calver from Michael Dawes, Banbury.

The judge, Martin Smith, Worcestershire, said his champion was the ideal modern dairy cow being open and deep with a hard top and a great set of legs.

In reserve was the Jersey champion, Buryhill Engineer Ruby, a second calver from Barry Cambrdige, Bristol, which had also been  breed champion at Bath and West and North Somerset shows.

The supreme pig championship went to the modern champion, Tedfold Lena 176, a September 2022-born Duroc gilt from Oliver Giles, Surrey, which is a litter sister to his South of England inter-breed champion.

The judge, Arthur Uglow, Devon, said it was ‘a lovely gilt which walks well and is well grown for its age.'

Reserve went to the traditional champion, Stoneymoor Golden Rose, a January 2018-born Tamworth sow from M.V. Hicks and Sons, Balsall Common, which was bred by Bill Howes and had been breed champion at Royal Cornwall and Nottinghamshire shows.
