Hollywood 'hardman' turned farmer Vinnie Jones was recently at Ragley Hall in Warwickshire to promote his passion for the countryside and farming.

Mr Jones, a former professional footballer for Leeds United and Wimbledon, turned out for the annual Game Fair event to discuss his passions for the great British countryside as an ambassador for Harkila at their stand.

Harkila said Mr Jones has been a ‘passionate advocate' for the countryside as well as being an ‘all round great guy'.

TV chef James Martin, comedian Paul Whitehouse, TV farmer Adam Henson and Jim Murray, star of Netflix's The Crown, were also in attendance at the event with Mr Jones.

With over 125,000 people turning out for the event between July 28 to July 30, Mr Jones said education was important when it came to rural pursuits, preserving rural heritage and ensuring the countryside is protected from ‘unnecessary intrusion'.

He said: "It has always been a battle since I was a kid.

"We need to have game fairs to give people a different perspective on the countryside.

"There are too many townies coming out into the countryside and putting their stamp on it.

"We need to educate them nicely.

"The countryside needs managing by humans whether you like it or not.

"We have to keep spreading the word and we need do things properly in the countryside by abiding by the laws.

"Let's stick together and read everything that is out there."

Mr Jones, a star of films such as Mean Machine and Snatch, has recently announced he will star in a TV series ‘The Wildlife with Vinnie Jones' for Discovery+ as he embarks into the world of farming.
