High of 90,000gns for Texels at Carlisle

THE pre-sale show champion, the ram lamb Hilltop Goliath, led the trade at 90,000gns at the Solway and Tyne Texel Club sale at Carlisle.

High of 90,000gns for Texels at Carlisle

Consigned by Kenny Pratt, Aberdeen, the son of Auldhouseburn Fancy Pants, which has already sired lambs which have sold to 100,000gns this year out of a Sportsmans Chieftain sired dam, sold to John Forsyth, Maybole, and Alan Blackwood, Muirkirk.

Next at 30,000gns was Auldhouseburn Grey Goose, by 50,000gns Okehall Fireball out of a Garngour Yeltsin daughter, from Messrs Blackwood, which was knocked down to James Theyer, Little Clansfield, and George Oare, Holywell.

Making 12,000gns was Okehall Golden Balls, a son of Haymount Earth Wind and Fire from Mike Turner, Leek, which is a full brother to Fireball. It sold to Gary Beacom, Fivemiletown, Andrew Kennedy, Ballymean, and Martin and Cyril Millar, Coleraine.

Also making 12,000gns, from Robert Evans, Minsterley, was Hope Valley Giant, an Auldhouseburn Freaky Friday son, which sold in a two-way split to Highfield Farming's Knockem flock, Duns, and Nick Woodmass, Harene flock, Carlisle. 

Shearling rams

Shearling rams topped at 16,000gns for Craigdarroch Flint from Ruaridh and Isla Graham, Sanquhar. The son of Cornmore Diamond is out of a Clinterty Yuga Khan daughter and sold to the Kermode family, Isle of Man.
Duhonw Flash, from Michael James and family, Builth Wells, was next at 5500gns. This Whitehart A Lister son went to Messrs Smith and Son, Alford, Aberdeenshire.

Females

A gimmer by Claybury Dunkirk out of a Knockem Concorde daughter, from the MacGregor family's Allanfauld flock, Kilsyth, topped the females at 2,200gns when selling to Cameron Jackson, Wigton.

Averages - aged rams, £3,360; 153 shearling rams, £1,353.61; 249 ram lambs, £1,809.42; 91 gimmers, £716.77; 10 ewe lambs, £430.50.
