Avian flu confirmed at Lincolnshire farm

Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1 has been confirmed in commercial poultry at a premises near Donington, South Holland, Lincolnshire on November 9.

A 3 kilometre protection zone and a 10km surveillance zone have been declared around the premises.

Avian flu

The main causes of bird flu in poultry and other captive birds are contact with wild birds, in particular waterfowl such as geese, ducks and swans and gulls, faeces from infected birds and dirty footwear, clothing and vehicles and equipment.

Íæż½ã½ã in a bird flu disease control zone you must follow the rules for that zone and check if you need a licence to move poultry, poultry by-products, eggs, material or mammals.
