New Charolais record set at Welshpool

A new joint Charolais breed centre record of 11,000gns was set at the breed society's sale at Welshpool

The first at this money was the overall champion, 21-month-old Wissington Trent from Jennifer Rix, Colchester. The son of Wissington Observer out of the Thrunton Hammerstein daughter, Wissington Nicole, sold to E. Vaughan, Staffordshire.

Esgob Tattoo

The other bull to make 11,000gns was Esgob Tatto by Solwayfirth Peterpan out of Goldstar Gentleman sired, Esgot Nen, consigned by G.M. Jones, Gwynedd, which was knocked down to Williams and Partners, Mid Glamorgan.

The next top price was 7,800gns achieved by two bulls. Firstly, Waldencourt  Trojan, an 18-month-old son of Balthayock Musketeer, from S. Hookway, Gloucestershire, which sold to R.E. Dawson, Leicestershire.

The other bull at 7,800gns was 20-month-old Brampton Topper by Border Jamboree bred by W.G. Turner, North Yorshire, which went home with E.G. Morgan, Powys.

Trefaldwyn Trilby, a 17-month-old son of Oakchurch Maximus, from R.A. Owen, Powys, sold for 7,500gns to R.W. Owen, Gwynedd.

Making 7,000gns was 18-month-old Sarkley Tomas by Plexus from E.H. Pennie and Son, Powys, which went to J. Hunter, Aberdeenshire.

Females

The winning heifer, three-year-old Graiggoch Realdiamond by Maerdy Newman from G. Jones, Conwyn, sold for 5,000gns tto Eileen Hanna, Omagh and making the same price was the second prize winner, Graiggoch Showwinner, a 23-month-old Maerdy Morwr daughter from the same home which went to Boden and Davies, Stockport. 

Averages - 25 bulls, £5,087.06 (+£504.19 on 2022); 6 females, £3,850.
